I'll Be Home Soon

Am going back home tomorrow. Yay! Can't wait to spend time with my family and squeeze in some time with my friends. I may be back for only 4 days but its worth it.

Although I don't celebrate Christmas, I wanna wish everyone who does Merry Christmas

Don't Bring The Cloud To Rain On My Parade

Woke up today thinking I should update my blog (after 3 weeks of silence)...

As I was brainstorming on what to write I suddenly thought about something that has been at the back of my mind lately. Thinking about it made me sad. Then tears started flowing...

Dang! I can't believe I'm crying over something that is not even worth a single tear. Thank God I finally snap out of it.

Maybe watching Glee would make me feel better. Am totally addicted to it. I love Harry Shum Jr! He is an awesome dancer. Loved him in Step Up 2 and can't wait for his next project, The LXD.

Well said Mr Ignacio Suarez. =)

Open Your Mouth & Say 'Aaahhhh'

I was browsing The Star Online and came across an article entitled "Malaysians must get regular dental checks" that I think everyone should read. Truth be told, I might seem bias cos I'm actually a dental student but the article should be an eye-opener to anyone who has never been to a dentist before. Here's a snippet from the article:

"During the checks if a person does not have problems the person can get preventive dental service. The preventive dental treatment is a proactive step to prevent dental disease, for as we all know, prevention is better than cure"

So true. Prevention is always better than cure.

Proud To Be Malaysian

Recently Lonely Planet picked Malaysia as one of their top 10 countries to visit in 2010. Congrats!

Here's the short description written on the web:
Malaysia often gets criticised as being mild in comparison with its grittier neighbours, Thailand and Indonesia. It’s true, natural disasters and coups only seem to happen across its borders, the roads don’t have too many potholes, buses and trains have air-con and plush seats, and hotels are of international standard. While troubles are few, visiting Malaysia lets you leap into the jaws of one of the most interesting parts of Southeast Asia’s roaring cultural smorgasbord — and not be too worried about it. Cheap connections to Europe and great exchange rates mean that you won’t get eaten up by your wallet either.

Well said. Can't help to feel proud of my own country. =)

Malaysia Truly Asia!

Raining Sunshine

Hey All!

I know I've been on hiatus for 2 weeks but I bet you didn't miss me. Heh.

Anyhoo, just started Pediatrics this week. Kidsssss.... I hope they behave. If not I must find a way to 'bribe' them. Haha!

Just felt like blogging today. Don't have much to say. Am without a doubt very happy today. My patient was happy with his full dentures. Hooray for me! Hooray for him as well. Syukur Alhamdulillah. Even if it was a slightly gloomy morning, the sun surely shined brightly in mine. Okay, its kinda obvious that I'm in very high spirits today. =)

Although I'm in a better mood today, I wish I was somewhere else. Check out the hint below:

Yup! You guessed it right. I wish I was at the beach. I miss the beach! Baking in the sun. Surfer dudes. Snorkeling. Sunsets. Oogling hot guys *wink wink*. Was planning to go to Bali this weekend but it was gonna burn a hole in my pocket so I decided to cancel it (Have fuin without me Na!). *Sigh* Maybe next time.

The photos are from my trip to Gili & Lombok March 2009.

Grey Sky Above Me

After a very long hiatus blogging, I feel like I should at least jot a few words to get the blog going. A lot of things have been happening so far and I didn't feel like typing it on the screen but instead I wrote it on paper. Sometimes it's a better relief to write on paper instead of typing it. We can't see the death of handwriting even if our world is now surrounded by technology.

Anyway, I went to the Immigration office in Yogya today. Went to pick up my passport and my Limited Stay Permit Card. The guy at the counter asked me to smile before giving my passport. Why should I? You've been taking our money all this years and sometimes given us hell for it, I don't think its worth a smile. But at the end of the day, the smile or money wouldn't change the fact that I'm studying in another person's country, so of course I have to obey their rules. Heh.

On a different note, I know I promise myself not to blog about patients but there's something that I just felt like blogging about. So I have a patient who came to fill his teeth. Throughout the procedure he was kinda getting on my nerves but as a dentist I have to be professional about it. But what really hit a nerve is when he texted me (I don't even know where he got my number) and said, "Aku penasaran, kamu udah bersuami?" (Translation: I'm just curious, do you have a husband?) WHAT?!? I know I have to obey the dentist-patient confidentiality but what about the confidentiality of my life! So maybe the patient got the wrong idea when a friend and I was joking around when he asked his child patient to call me "Mama" but it still gives the patient no right to ask me that kind of question! Some say I should be flattered but I'm not.

This week is my last week at Endodontic and Protodontic department. Am changing to Pediatrics next week. So will be busy this whole week so I doubt I'll be blogging again anytime soon.

Cookie Cutter World

I have two stories to be told today...

1. The Funny Story

Yesterday I went to Carrefour to buy ingredients for a few things I was thinking of making. Since I have an oven stored away in a luggage under my bed, I decided to put it to good use. At first I was rather sad I couldn't find some of the things I needed. They don't even sell chocolate chips! This really made me miss Malaysia even more cos it's easier to find ingredients there. Despite of the minor setback, I decided to bake cookies today. I decided to bake M&M's cookies but since I couldn't find M&M's or Smarties, I bought a local brand called Chacha.

So the first step was to measure all the ingredients and mix it all together. Halfway through I was feeling happy about my attempt to bake cookies with my oven for the first time (in Indonesia of course!). After following the instructions, I lined the tray with butter (cos I couldn't find baking parchment in Carrefour). I put the cookie dough on the tray and put it in the oven and happily waited.

In less than an hour all the cookies was ready. Unfortunately I was fasting so I had to wait another 7 hours till I could taste the first bite. Happy with my achievement so far, I cleaned the mess and put the cookies on a plate ready to be served to my friends after I break my fast later.

After baking I decided to chill and check out other recipes that I could try out later. One recipe that caught my eye was the Chocolate Chunk Cookies. So I thought to myself, "Maybe I'll try this out tomorrow". I read the ingredients and was happy to know it was the same as my M&M's Cookies except for the chocolate of course. As I was reading the recipe something caught my eye. One of the measurement of the ingredient was different. Oh No... That ain't a good sign. I reread it again. Oh Crap! Its definitely not a good sign.

Since I was fasting I couldn't taste it . So I decided to take one cookie and let my friend taste it. She took a small bite and asked, "Is it suppose to taste like this?" Okay, that's definitely NOT a good sign. So I asked, "What does it taste like? Did I put anything too much? Salt maybe?" (At this point my heart was beating fast waiting for her answer) Her reply? "Yes! That's it! Its tooo saltyyyy!". Dang! I knew something wasn't right when I reread the instructions.

Wanna know my mistake? Hehe.... The instructions said put 1/4 teaspoon of salt. So what did I put? 1/4 CUP OF SALT! Muahahahahahaha! I guess I can say my attempt to make cookies failed miserably. But the pictures looks good though. Haha ;P

I don't know if you thought it was funny but I sure as hell thought it was funny. Heh.

2. The Miserable Story

Honestly, I can't find the right word to describe this story. It's not really a story I but just felt like I should write about. This involves the really annoying construction workers in front of my house. They make noise 24 hours a day and they are a bunch of Peeping Toms!!! WTF! Its kinda freaky at the same time because we're all girls staying there. What if something happens. The problem is they can see us go in and out of the house. If anything goes missing in the house I seriously won't be suprised.

Think Outside The Box

Think outside the box...

Was looking at some pictures and a few ideas came up. Unfortunately I haven't got the time or place to snap the photos. Lets hope this weekend will be a weekend of pic-whoring. Hehe.

Btw, the photo above was taken by my dad on the streets of Tokyo. He's getting pretty good at photography. But the both of us have different opinions on what type/style of photos we like. So everytime I borrow his camera he'll always complain my photos are not in focus or doesn't make sense. Haha!

Crack Me Up

I'm lacking on updates lately. Not having an inspirational moment. So, I'll just post one of my fave photos at the moment. This was taken on a boat at Lake Ashi, Japan. Loving the contrast between my crispy white shoes and green cracked floor.

I'll try to find the time to select some photos of my trip to Japan last month. So keep your fingers crossed for more updates soon.
